الكثير من الاهتمام أنصب على مشاكل اعوجاج كسر فوق اللقمة للعضد في الأطفال.
الاعوجاج الأنسي و الوحشي نسب في الماضي لانقباض النمو في الصحيفة العظمية السفلى للعضد أكثر من انتسابها لسوء التعديل.
لقد عالجنا 72 حالة من كارتلاند 3 لكسر فوق اللقمة للعضد خلال الفترة من تشرين الثانية 2006 إلى كانون الأول 2009 (متابعة لمدة سنتين) في مستشفى المناذرة, مستشفى الحكيم و مستشفى الصدر.
36 حالة عولجت بالطريقة المغلقة و تثبيت الداخلي و 36 حالة عولجت بالطريقة المفتوحة و التثبيت الداخلي للأطفال للفئة العمرية من 5 إلى 12 سنة.
و قد كانت النتائج في ما يتعلق بالطريقة المغلقة ممتازة في 17 حالة (47%) و جيدة في 12 حالة (33%) و مقبولة في 6 حالات (17%) و ضعيفة في حالة واحدة (3%) بينما كانت النتائج في الطريقة المفتوحة و التثبيت الداخلي ممتازة في 10 حالات (28%) و جيدة في 10 حالات (28%) و مقبولة في 11 حالة (30.5%) و ضعيفة في 5 حالات (13.5%).
لقد استنتجنا أن الطريقة المغلقة هي أفضل من الطريقة المفتوحة لإنها تقلل وقت الشفاء و تعطي نتائج وظيفية مثلى مع احتمال ضعيف بالإصابة بالتهاب.

-- much attention has been paid to the problem of malreduction of supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children .in past, cubitus varus or cubitus valgus frequently thought to occur because of growth arrest of the distal humeral physis rather than because of malreduction of the fracture.
