Evaluation of the machinable and pressable ceramics in terms of change in color

Abstract EN

Objective : To evaluate the change in color (if any) of the selected and produced shade for machinable and pressable ceramics.

Methodology : Twenty samples were made of four different all ceramic materials as follows: machinable In-Ceram (group 1), Vita mark 2 (group 2), layering pressable ceramic (group 3) and staining pressable ceramic (group 4).

The samples were produced by slicing using a low speed saw (group 2), slicing and veneering (group Im pressing and layering (group 3) or pressing and staining (group 4).

The samples are measured to the intended shade A2 against A2 human tooth background using Easyshade dental spectrophotometer.

Results : Mean color differences were 2.4, 3.46, 3.42, and 3.36 for group 1, group 2, group 3, and group 4respectively.

There was a statistically significant difference between group 1 and group 2, a statistically significant difference was also found between group 1 and group 3.

Conclusion : The bilayered In-Cream ceramic samples showed the lowest change in color between the selected and produced shade when compared with the other groups.

The Vita mark2 ceramic samples showed the highest mean of change in color between the selecLed and produced shade when compared with the other groups.
