This study aimed at mdentifj ing the attitudes of the students of the Higher College for the certification of Teachers towards teaching, and Knowing how these attitudes are affected by the following Variables of the study: Year of study (firs, Second), sex (male, female) Cumulative average (high, mediocre, low) Specialization (class - teacher t science teacher, languate and humaities teacher).

The sample of the study consisted of 585 male and female smdents (34.5% ) selceted from all the students of the College in Amman* Irbid and Al-karak for the scholastic year 1989 1990.

The subjects were selected in aceorance with the classified random sampling procedure (Tables I, 2), A scale of attitudes towards teaching has been developed and used in measuring the attitudes of students towards teaching (Appendix 1).

The reliability of the scale was (0,886), and it was calculated by test -retest the scle on a similar sample.

The seie consisted of 38 items* Nineteen items represent the negative attitudes and the others 19 ones represent the positive attitudes- The tehoretical range of the scores was (38 - 200).

The Completely Factorial Random Design was employed in answering the questions of the study.

Averages were obtained for the responses on each variable and the Two-Way Analysis of Variance was used in the analysis.

The scores of the attitudes indicated by the scale were considered as the dependent variable.

The range of the actual scores of the attitudes of the subjects was (67,4 - 89.83).

It is apparent that the average of the attitudes scores was low.

This can be attituded to factors such as the short period of study and some other factors that have not been studied such as the social and economic conditions.

The findings of the study revealed that there is a difference anong the averages of the attitudes scores on each variable: sex, cumulative average, specialization, year of study * at the level of 0.01), The study also showed the need for more studies to investigate the influence of other factors on improving and raising the attitudes of the student teachers at the Higher College for the Certification of Teachers.
