Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Using a light-trap of Robinson type, a survey together with studies of population densities, relative abundance and flight activity of Lepidopterous insects were made at Hada El-Sham area in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia during two successive years ; 1988 / 89 and 1989 / 1990.
The total annual number of trapped moths was 1155 and 1439 months in the first and second year of study, respectively.
These figures represent 58 species of 45 genera belonging to 12 families.
Family Noctuidae included the highest number of species (35 species) and / or individuals (472 months in the first year and 747 months in the second).
Other families were represented by lower number of individuals and / or species.
Three peaks of activity were observed for Lepidopterous moths during January, June and September in the first year and during February, May and September in the second.
The largest number of moths was trapped during January and September and the lowest population was during April and June in the first and second years, respectively.
