عملت دراسة لوظائف الغدة الدرقية أثناء الحمل و بعد الولادة لثلاثة و عشرون سيدة حامل.
و ظهر أن هناك ارتفاع واضح في مستوى FT4 و انخفاض مستوى هرمون TSH و ذلك خلال الفترة الأولى من الحمل و المقارنة تمت على مستوى هرمونات الغدة الدرنية لسيدات غير حوامل.
كما ظهر أن هناك علاقة واضحة من مستوى هرمون FT4 و هرمون hCG أثناء الفترة الأولى من الحمل.
و لقد وجد أن مستوى FT4 قد انخفض و ازداد مستوى tsh بشكل بين في الفترة الأخيرة من الحمل.
و يتابعه الحوامل بعد الولادة بستة أما بيع وجد أن مستوى هرمونات الغدة عاد إلى مستواه الطبيعي.
تؤكد النتائج المسابقة أن الغدة الدرقية تنشط أثناء الفترة الأولى للحمل و قد يكون أحد العوامل المنشطة هو هرمون hCG.
Abstract EN
A prospective longitudinal study of thyroid function was undertaken in 23pregnant women.
There was significant increase in serum free thyroxine and a decrease in thyrotropin in early pregnancy relative to the levels in non-pregnant controls.
Free thyroxine significantly correlated with human chorionic-gonadotrophin in early pregnancy.
The level of decreased and that of thyrotropin increased significantly towards the end of pregnancy.
On followup of pregnant women, thyroid function returned to normal 6 weeks postpartum.
These data indicate that the thyroid gland is physiologically activated in early pregnancy, possibly by human chorionic gonadotrophin.
