Abstract EN

Tenacity constitutes a current problem It is defined by the stress intensity factor K / c, determined in mode / and in a state of planar deformation.

Various loyal 'A,' points ha \> e been expressed to describe the phenomenon oftenacity.

The high number ofoften contradictory parameters renders difficult these approaches.

Materials that present a better tenacity must have: a high hardness, a good resistance, a better hardenabilitv and an absence offragility.

In this communication, we present an experimental approach based on the available means in our laboratory.

This approach relies especially 0 »resilience, traction and hardness tests.

Thermal treatments of samples were applied to point out the influence of microstructure.

The samples studied,? 2,? of the standard types.

Correlation of K / r are given by ASTM standards.

Different correlations take into account various characteristic material parameters.

By analogy to the relationship ofRolfand Darsom expressing the KJC according 0; the limit ofelasticity, 7 Ä ', the AD have established a correlation connecting (he K [C as a function ofthe I' ickers (in 5 hardness.
