Abstract EN

The acid dissociation constant of the novel Schiff base ligand salicylidine methylene hydrazino-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidine-4-one [1] in 50% ethanolic solution was determined by pH-metnc titration at 25°C and 35° at different ionic strengths.

Its formation constants with Fe(Iii), Co(il), and Ni(ll) have been studied.

The free energies, enthalpies and entropies of the complexes formed were deduced.

Also the relation between the stabilities of these complexes and the ionic radius of the cations was discussed.
