Abstract EN

The laser Raman and infrared spectra of 3-aminoquinolme (C9HSN2) are reported for the first time in the regions of 30-4000 cm'1 and 600-4000 cm'1 respectively.

The bands characteristic- of the various mono-substituted quinoline molecules and similarly substituted naphthalenes are utilized to predict tentative assignments of specific molecular vibrational modes of 3-aminoquinoline by assuming Cs point group symmetry.

A normal coordinate analysis is carried out to check the validity of the assignments.

The potential energy distribution is also obtained to study the nature of the bonds.

The results are reported and briefly discussed.
