Abstract AR

Abstract EN

The correlation between the octane number of motor gasoline and its physical and chemical properties was investigated with the aim of obtaining a simple and accurate formula for the estimation of the octane quality.

The formula derived in this study was based on the Watson Characterization Factor of the fuel and its 90 % point, with a correlation factor of 0.84.

This equation was tested on a large number of gasoline specimens ; the results obtained were found to be comparable with actual measured research octane numbers, the difference being less than 0.7 in most cases.
