Abstract EN

Multichannel wireless access protocols are being envisioned to provide high data rate services in the next generation of tetherless data networks.

In this paper we analyze a retransmission control scheme for multichannel S-ALOHA protocol in a micro-cellular wireless environment.

With properly chosen protocol parameters, the proposed scheme can provide high system capacity for a very wide range of system load.

Delay-throughput performance is evaluated by exact Markov analyses in the case of error free and i.i.d.

(independent and identically distributed) Rayleigh fading channel.

We also incorporate a capture model in the analysis.

Performance results for the single channel systems with constant probability retransmission control can be found from the general model as special cases.

Effects of the different protocol parameters on system capacity are investigated.

For correlated Rayleigh fading channel we resort to simulation for performance evaluation.

Performance of the retransmission control scheme based on local adaptation is also studied.
