he emerging field ofh؛gh-$peed networks is one of the most challenging and ambitious concepts in data communications.

This paper proposes a high-level framework for a broadband high-speed network covering all vital areas of Lebanon.

The network will provide users with a universal end-to-end high-speed transport, and integrated services access (where users will be able to talk, teleconference, and exchange large files of data over the same physical interface providing access to the network).

Although a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) solution for major Lebanese cities is feasible, and possibly able to cover Lebanon’s immediate needs in data communications, this paper proposes a high-speed Wide Area Network that will integrate the LMAN (Lebanese MAN) as well as other types of network access to form the Lebanese High-Speed Network (LHSN).-
