Abstract EN

The practice of municipal wastewater treatment and reuse in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in urgent need of improvement in all aspects.

Major recommendations include the need to: immediately expand wastewater collection, treatment capacity, and reuse; establish process selection and design guidelines considering the Kingdom's local requirements; establish rational and enforceable quality criteria for effluent disposal and reuse; and start a system of plant inspection and reporting that holds plant operating entities liable for any violations.
