-Small bowel obstruction is one of the most common abdominal emergencies, with a significant morbidity and mortality.

A subtype results from disturbed gut motility due to a variety of factors in the absence of mechanical obstruction.

Certain drugs or drug combinations may lead to cessation of effective peristalsis, culminating into bowel obstruction.

We describe the clinical course of a case of chronic schizophrenia, who under the effect of benztropine and haloperidol combination, developed small bowel obstruction.

A past history of abdominal tuberculosis, and the continued bowel distension under conservative treatment called for laparotomy, after which the diagnosis of bowel pseudo-obstruction was confirmed.
