A simple derivation of the generalized field equation with a source term is presented by restricting ourselves to a locally inertial frame.

It reduces to Einstein's field equation when the lagrangian is linear.

Assuming the metric to be Minkowskian, simple solutions for the scalar curvature show the existence of a short range field and the emission of gravitational waves by objects which have strong field
