Abstract EN

Objective: Cervical spondylosis may induce vertigo that is not vascular in origin (proprioceptive Vertigo).

Aim of Work: To investigate the role of rehabilitation in improving the signs of proprioceptive vertigo in cervical spondylosis.

Material and methods: Forty adult patients suffering of cervical spondylosis (CS) and recent onset of vertigo that proved not to be related to any ear etiology.

Other causes of vertigo were excluded clinically and through the use of dynamic posturography.

Results: A statistically significant correlation was found between the severity of cervical pain and the intensity of vertigo as well as the frequency of attacks.

Drug therapy failed to induce significant improvement while physical modalities proved to be of significant beneficial effects.

Posturographic testing proved to be a sensitive and reliable method for the diagnosis of cervical vertigo and monitoring therapy outcome.
