Clinical significance of anti-ro antibodies in systemic lupus erythematosus patients

The aim of this study was to determine the difference in clinical and laboratory features between anti-Ro positive SLE patients and anti-Ro negative SLE patients.

Twenty SLE patients were included in the study.

Fifty five percent of these patients were anti-Ro positive.

The anti-Ro positive patients showed a higher incidence of organic brain syndrome, visual disturbances and headache that reached a statistical significance.

Also, the level of ds-DNA in anti-Ro positive patients (1513.8+1622.5) was significantly higher than in anti-Ro negative patients.

The above results indicate that studying anti-Ro antibodies in SLE patients could predict and affect clinical features of the disease.
