Abstract EN

This study was carried out at Bab El-Sharria University Hospital, during the period from October 1999 to June 2001.

Ninety pregnant women were included.

They had been divided into 3 groups: Group I: 30 pregnant women suffering from pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) developed in late second trimester.

Group II: 30 pregnant women with PIH developed in late third trimester.

Group HI (control group): 30 pregnant women in late pregnancy with normotensive pregnancy.

The aim of the study was to try to find a correlationship between serum endothelin and renal function in patients with PIH.

There were statistically significant increase in the endothelin, serum uric acid and creatinine levels in the study groups (with PIH than the control group.

The level of endothelin; uric acid and serum creatinine increases as gestational age is increased.

There was positive correlation between endothelin level and the level of both uric acid and createnine.
