Abstract EN

To evaluate safety and advantage of a minimal wound closure through one layer uterine wound closure ( sero-muscular ) leaving both visceral and parietal peritonium at caesarean section.

Material and Methods: At Bab El-Sharia and Benjamine Frankline university hospitals 114 women underwent a one layer uterine wound closure at lower segment caesarean sections either for the first time or repeated.

Results: Patients with one layer wound closure had a shorter mean operative time 30 versus 40 minutes (P< 0.001) earlier postoperative defecation 1.2 versus 1.8 days ( P < 0.001) and a shorter stay in hospital 5.1 versus 5.5 days (P < 0.001).

Wound healing, operative revision and postoperative fever were not affected by the technique .

Conclusion : One layer wound closure at caesarean section is considered to be as safe as the multilayers closure.

It is more simpler to perform with no disadvantage were observed.
