Patterns of female sexual dysfunction among Egyptian women and whether affected by female circumcision or not

Women experience disturbances of the desire (libido), arousal (proceptivity), and orgasmic phases of the sexual response cycle, as well as painful intercourse (dyspareunia).

limited basic science or clinical research has focused on female sexuality.

Aim of the work; detection of patterns of female sexual function س dysfunction in Suez Canal area and either affected or not by female circumcision Methods and subjects: The study ؛included 27 sexually active married women attending Women health centers.

Seventeen of them are circumcised .while ten are not complete medical and sexual history, à special interview about female circumcision and full general genital medical examination were done; Results: 74% of our study population are housewife and 26% are working Mean age in years was30.29±851 for circumcised group and 30.30±67 for uncircumcised group ,while the mean weight in kilograms was 82.17±13.8 and 65.6±13.2 for circumcised and uncircumcised respectively.(63%) are; circumcised؛ and (37%) ^re not.

Sexual dysfunctions were less of desire in 23%, decreased arousal 23%, failure to reach orgasm in 45% and dyspareunia in 38.5% of total study population.

Circumcised and uncircumcised women have the same sensation and sexual behavioral with insignificant or even no differences.

Discussion: Individually, sexuality incorporates family, societal and religious beliefs, and is altered with personal experience, interpersonal relationships, each partner bringing unique attitudes, needs and responses into the coupling.
