The synchronizing and damping torques technique is used in this paper to investigate the dynamic performance of two cases of multimachine power systems.
This technique is based on numerical analysis of the time responses of rotor angle, speed, and torque, using the least-square error criterion.
The effects of operating conditions, synchronous condenser location, and its inertia are examined.
It is found that the synchronizing and damping torque coefficients can sufficiently describe the dynamic performance of every individual machine in the system.
The investigation is enhanced by eigenvalue- eigenvector analysis to verify the results of the synchronizing and damping torques technique
