The Charge Simulation Technique (CST) is applied to calculate the capacitance of single-phase conductor-to-ground and two-conductor transmission lines with single and bundle conductors.
The surface charge of each conductor is represented by a discrete set of unknown infinite line charges.
Satisfying the boundary conditions at the conductor(s) surface results in a system of linear algebraic equations whose solution determines the unknown discrete charges.
Having determined the unknown charges, the displacement vector and hence the conductor surface charge can be evaluated.
The capacitance is calculated as equal to the conductor surface charge per unit of potential difference between the conductor and the other conductors and/or the ground.
The calculated conductor-to-ground and/or conductor-to-conductor capacitance values agreed satisfactorily with those calculated analytically.
