Abstract EN

Improvement of the performance of hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalysts is needed for sulfur reduction in crude oil distillates required by new legislation in many countries worldwide.

The quality of HDS catalysts and their HDS performances depend on many parameters and therefore both during catalyst manufacturing and catalyst utilization a careful monitoring of the operating conditions at each stages is required.

Continuous efforts to get a better understanding of all the phenomena involved in each of these stages at a molecular level are the key to future improvement in CoMo and NiMo HDS catalysts performances.

This work briefly reviews the various stages of the life of a HDS catalyst.
