Abstract AR
Calotropis Procera (Ait) Ait
Abstract EN
This study was conducted during the years 1995-1996 with the aim of determining the faunistic composition of arthropods (insecta and araneida) on the milkweed, Calotropis procera (Ait) Ait.
The field surveys of this study showed that quite a diverse fauna of both groups collected from six different latitudinal areas representing the western region of Saudi Arabia.
Data collected showed that species of both groups belong to 24 families in 11 orders.
The Calotropis was characterised by having diverse fauna of insects and spiders.
It was found that this plant harbours a vast array of arthropods (insects and spiders).
However, the predacious and parasitoid groups were attracted to the Calotropis due to the rich prey composition accumulated on the host plant.
