Abstract EN
This paper will discuss the real potential of BiCMOS technology in the design of high performance analog integrated circuits (ICs) for VLSI applications.
Both system and circuit level issues will be discussed.
A basic concept for designing high-speed analog ICs in BiCMOS will be presented.
The concept is based on connecting MOS and bipolar transistors such that all internal nodes in the signal path have minimum impedance.
This combined with the speed of bipolar transistors, and the linearity and high input impedance of MOS transistors, produces analog circuits with excellent performance which can not be achieved using bipolar-only or MOS-only design solutions.
Several design examples including a BiCMOS IF filter and a BiCMOS four-quadrant multiplier will be presented.
