The conductance of zinc chloride, ZnCl2, at 25°C in binary mixtures of water with glycol, glycerol, and ethanol in a concentration range of (2xl0~4 to 6xlO~3)M has been measured.

The conductometric data were analyzed according to the Fuoss and Edelson method, and the association constant, KA, values have been determined.

The association constant, KA, values of ZnCl2 in ethanol-water are larger than those in the other two water solvent mixtures.

However, although the dielectric constants of glycerol-water and glycol-water mixtures are in the same range of the values; (£> = 70.00, 69.8, respectively), ZnCl2 is less associated in glycol-water than in glycerol-water mixture.

This is probably due to the fact that glycerol-water is a more hydrogen bonded solvent than glycol-water.

The Walden product, A0T|, values are calculated and discussed for all investigated systems.

The effect of solvent on the association processes of ZnCl2 is discussed in terms of ion-solvent interaction.
