A simplified formulation is presented to deal with the interfacial stability problem with mass and heat transfer.
The system is stressed by a periodic electric field.
It is found that, for perturbations having small wave lengths, there are resonance modes causing excitation of the perturbed interface of the system.
The effects of mass and heat transfer tend to destabilize the system.
In the case of the Kelvin-Helmholtz stability problem, the classical stability criterion is found to be substantially modified due to the effects of a constant electric field, mass and heat transfer.
Contrary to the case of the constant field, the periodic field shows, frequently, the effect of the mass and heat transfer on the stability condition.
The analytical results are confirmed numerically.
