Abstract EN
The multiple-melting behaviour of Poly(ethylene succinate) (Pes) crystallized from the glassy state has been investigated investigated using differential scanning calorimeter y (DSc).
When Pes is annealed at low temperatures (T<20 deg.
), two melting endothermic peaks were observed and attributed to the melting of reorganized crystals.
annealing Pes within a medium range of temperatures (20 deg.
< Ta <55 deg.) results in three melting peaks: the lower endothermic the temperature peak, about 5 deg.
above Ta, is due to the melting of branched poor crystal lamellae formed at the annealing temperature, the medium peak is due to the melting of the more perfect crystals (dominant crystals), and the upper melting peak is attributed to the melting of the reorganized crystals.
Anneal ting at high temperatures (Ta>55 deg.) produces a fourth new melting peak.
This melting peak, about 16 deg.
above Ta, is most probably due to the melting of new type of crystals whose perfection is slightly more than the poor crystals and less than the dominant crystals.
