Abstract AR

Abstract EN

The paper is largely expository, urging a geometric, and in particular a spherical geometric, attack on some classes of problems in mathematical programming and optimization.

Examples from the recent literature are given to show the efficacy of such methods as well as the added virtue of intuitive insight.

Some derivations of familiar properties of polar (dual) cones may be new or substantial simplifications of those in the existing literature.
