This paper deals with an experimental study of the air flow over a flat square sharp-edged plate, at various Reynolds numbers and angles of attack.
The investigation includes surface flow visualization, and mean pressure measurements.
It is carried out at Reynolds numbers ranging between 0.5 x 105 and 3.7 x 105 and at angles of attack between 20° and 50°.
The effects of Reynolds number on the critical angle, the normal force, and the drop in the normal force are investigated.
It is revealed that the change in Reynolds number hardly influences the normal force on the plate for the same angle of attack.
