An empirical correlation for the solubility of paraffin waxes in base oils

Abstract EN

An empirical correlation was developed for the prediction of solubility of three types of paraffin waxes in various base oils.

The correlation was developed using the superposition approach and was proposed as Ts = eA (B In C + D) The range of melting points for the three waxes was 43 to 60°C which correspond to molecular weight range of 336 to 441.

Development of the empirical correlation and the experimental data was performed as a function of: Type of wax and base oil; the concentration of the wax in the base oil; and solubility temperature.
