Abstract EN

This study investigates Jordanian students' motivation for learning English as a foreign language.

The research has been carried out by conducting a questionnaire.

The questionnaire covers five different areas eleciting answers that indicate the subjects' motivation.

The areas covered in the questionnaire are occupational, recreational, social/ personal, educational and finally communal.

The study concludes that learners of English in Jordan are instrumentally motivated rather than integratively motivated.
