English language learning styles and strategies of male Saudi students studying at English Language centers in the United States of America

Abstract EN

The study is mainly concerned with the investigation of English learning styles and strategies of male Saudi Arabian students pursuing courses at English language centers in American universities.

It also endeavours to investigate the methods and techniques employed to acquire the skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing and pronunciation.

Results of the study show that these students are eager to learn in a tranquil atmosphere and a formal learning setting rather than by feedback methods.

Results have also shown that these students are self-directed and persistent in acquiring the skills of the target language.

The article concludes that more research is needed to establish language learning styles and strategies that learners are prone to acquire.

The researcher also suggests that the learners should be taught how to discover their own learning styles and strategies and that teachers should put up with some of the minor mistakes committed by their students since the prime goal of all learning is to be able to communicate effectively.
