Adsorption of copper, cadmium, zinc and lead ions on the surface of calcium sulphate dihydrate crystals in artificial sea water was measured as a function of time, amount of solid phase and concentration of metal ions.
It was found that the adsorption of metal ions on the surface of calcium sulphate crystals was in the following order Cu > Cd > Zn > Pb.
The adsorption of these metal ions on the crystal surfaces may be interpreted in terms of the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
