Abstract EN

100 males and 100 females took part in this study of verbal selfdisclosure in the speech community of Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The results show that there are topical priorities as well as target preferences with regard to verbal self-disclosure for both males and females.

The patterns of the two sexes, though very similar, were not identical.

The results also show a general low level of verbal self-disclosure in this community; especially for females.

The findings of this study reflect the peculiar sociocultural setting of this speech community.
