Abstract EN

In this paper a practical adaptive mechanism is designed to work with a Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) system so that the fuzzy linguistic rules can be modified through repetitive runs such that a desired closed loop behaviour is achieved.

This mechanism closely imitate the adaptive behaviour of a human being, in the sense that a zone of desired trajectory is devised and the actual linguistic rules are updated to achieve the desired performance without mathematical modelling analysis.

The adaptive FLC was applied to a laboratory scale coupled-tank system and better response is achieved by applying the self learning mechanism compared to that obtained by an expert operator.
