Abstract EN

Electron impact (E.I.) mass spectra of some 2- trifluoroacetylcyclo alkanones comprising five-, six-, seven- and eight-membered ring systems are discussed.

The higher rnembered ring systems are characterized by extensive ring fragmentation leading to the formation of several abundant fluorinc-containing fragment ions.

The proposed fragmentation pathways have been confirmed by metastable scanning of the patent ion spectra using the defocusing technique and by high resolution mass measurements.
