The study aims at investigating the various views concerning the idea of Wahb b.

Munabbih (d.

114/732).

The story teller as a historian.

It examines the precise dates of Wahb's birth and death.

The study builds up a framework of his historical material and its sources.

The style and the concept of Wahb's historical writing also are investigated in this study.

Wahb’s position amongst the Islamic historians, and where do they classify him are also considered in this paper.

Finally, the study sheds somelight on Wahb's school of historical writing, and the reasons behind its extinction.
