Abstract EN

This study proceeds the issue of period of time Syrian youth spend in watching the T.V.

during vacation and school year on the basis of sex and father's school achievement variables.

The reseach was carried out in DARAA (South of Syria) in July 1990, on a sample of young peaple, their ages between 15 and 17 the questionaire was desigend to answer the questions such as : How many hours the young watch the T.V.

in comparison with the time girls spend in watching it during vacation, and school year? How many hours they watch the Syrian T.V.

according (o the level of father's achievement and both sexes? The study has concluded the following results, the most important of which are: - There are no statistical differences between both sexes and the different levels of fathers school achievement concerning the time allotted for watching the T.V.

during vacation and school year.

- Ther are statistical differences respecting the time alloted for watching T.V.

between both sex- es during school year in the favour of girls and the young whose fathers have higher education.

- Children of lower educated parents spend much more time in watching the Syrian T.V.

than of those of higher educated ones.

- Girls spend much more time in watching the Syrian T.V.

in comparison with boys.
