Abstract EN

New bismaleimide copolymers were obtained by free-radical polymerization N, N’-l,4-phenylene bismaleamic acid with styrene, acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate.

The copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopy and CHN microanalysis and differential thermal analysis.

DTA thermograms of the copolymers showed comparable curing temperatures.

Pure polybismaleimide did not show any exothermic peak in the range 25°-500°C.

At low ratios of vinyl polymers a single exothermic peak appeared due to the uncompleteness of the bismaleimide network.

The thermograms become more complicated and extra peaks appeared at high ratios of vinyl polymers due to the decomposition of some vinyl polymer molecules.

The method was successfully applied for the indirect determination of Co2+, and as low as 8.3x10-8 M, was detected.
