Estimates of agricultural production function in Iraq : 1970-1986 " an econometrics analysis M

Abstract EN

-Most of the Developing Countries suffer from unoptimal use of Agricultural resources, which is to be the result of dismaximization of agricultural production function.

This is required reallocation of resources through agricultural planning in order to reach the optimal use of resources in the field of agricultural production, either labour or capital.

The Iraqi agricultural policy is concerncd by the agricultural economic resources, since the agriculture sector occupied an improtant place in the National Economic of Development Plans.

But the constraint of agricultural growth has appeared in ihc shortages of iramed and skilled labour force in the agricultural sector during the period under study.

The main purpose of this paper is to assess and evaluate the Agricultural production parameters in Iraq during the period 1970-1986, in order to achieve self-reliance.

The analysis advocates a thrust towards restructuring the basis input-output martix to overcome the domestic supply gap.

We conclude that reallocation of resources with farm labour bias will promote growth and agricultural productivity in Iraq.
