Abstract EN

Three dimensional stress analysis of the human femur have been carried out by using photoelastic epoxy resin.

A mold was produced form a suitable material and a model casting procedure was implemented.

The femoral model was then subjected to an applied load simulating the actual human body weight.

Isochromatic and isocilinic lines were investigated by using a model 050 polariscope.

These lines were used to determine the principal stresses along the exterior length of the model.

The results were then verified by comparing them with the prvious findings by using theoretical methods.
