Abstract EN

Callus initiation, growth and differentiation occurred on stem segments of Pistachia vera L.

c.v.

Kalleghochi grown on a modified Murashige and Skoog medium.

The me¬dia which promoted the most rapid and sustained callus growth was MS medium con-taining 0.5 mg L-l 2,4-D and Kinetin or 1.0 mg L-1 IAA or NAA combined with 0.1 mg L-1 Kinetin.

Shoots and roots differentiation were established in callus eultured on MS medium containing 1.0 mg L-1 NAA or IAA and 0.1 mg L-1 Kinetin.

Addition of activated charcoal to the nutrient media with various growth regulators considerably inhibited callus growth under both light and darkness.
