Pavement condition evaluation and modeling of the street network in Amman City

Abstract EN

This study presents an evaluation and modeling of pavement surface condition in the Municipality of Greater Amman (MGA).

An integrated data base for pavement identification, construction history, and pavement condition was developed representing three street, classes and nine administrative zones, The PAVER Pavement Management System which was developed by the U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers was used in evaluating pavement condition.

The average condition of the selected pavement sections was found very good.

In this study, it was concluded that more attention was paid toward maintaining the arterial streets than the collector or local streets.

Also, the study indicated that the average pavement condition of the streets located in the western zones was found better than of those located in the eastern zones.

Regression techniques were used to develop the suitable pavement condition models.

The statistical relationship between Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and pavement age was found sound and significant, this relation was best represented by power function and suggested to be adopted by the personnel in MGA for estimating pavement condition.
