Abstract EN

This study deals with the shear stress distribution on I-beam whose centerline is circularly curved in the ys-piane.

Shear stresses and stress factor's equations (ratios between the Elementary straight beam theory and Winkler's curved beam approach) have been developed and presented in a graphical manner.

Emphasis has been placed on the effect erf the cross-sectional dimensions and the radius of curvature on the shear stress factors.

The results have shown high discrepancies between the two aforesaid techniques; that is, the elementary theory is an undesirable approach for investigating shear stresses in curved beams.
