Calcium was determined in serum by flaw injection analysis-atomic absorption spectroscopy (FIA -AAS) and potassium was determined by flow Injection analysis - atomic flame photometry (FIA - FP).
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), methanol and ethanol were used as carriers and deprotetnating agents in the flow systems.
The precipitation of protein occurs in a Tygon tube, containing glass beads, connected to the detector which is the AAS and FP In calcium and potassium determination, respectively, it is found that the use of methanol and ethanol causes an enhancement of signal compared to that obtained when TCA is used.
Methanol causes the highest enhancement.
The| values of calcium and potassium, in a Quality Control Serum Sample, determined by this method i were within the limits of the reference.
Ten fold dilution with wafer for calcium determination and 15 -! fold dilution for potassium determination are found to be appropriate to obtain accurate and| reproducible remitts.
