Abstract EN

Three oases, of the Jeddah area, are discussed: Wadi Khulais, Haddat ash Sham, arid the lower middle Wadi Ghiran.

Their historical background, topography and water resources are outlined.

The role of the decrease in the quantity and quality of water in their changing patterns of land use is discussed.

The resulting government response to this change in the form of the founding of new villages is briefly described.
