A selection of native species and introduced species suitable for naturalistic landscape design in Saudi Arabia is given, together with details of these species' phy~ical appearance and growth characteristics, their cultural requirements and' environmental tolerances, the methods and ease of propagation, and their potential for design use.
2.
The reasons for the apparent reluctance to use native plants more frequently and the attitude towards naturalistic designs are discussed.
