FECALC : a basic program for determining the fe3+ concentration in some ferromagnesian silicates and oxides

This papeT gives a detailed description of a basic program for the calculation of FeJ* concentration in pyroxene, amphibole, garnet and spinel depending on the electron microprobe data analysis.

The method of calculation is based on the equation derived by Droop (1987) which uses stoichiometric criteria assuming that iron is the only element present in the ibove-mcntioned minerals with variable valency and oxygen is the only anion.
