Abstract EN

A series of polyurethane block copolymers based on poly (caprolactone diol) (PCL) soft segment of 830 molecular weight were synthesized.

The hard segments consisted of 4,4 - methylenediphenylene diisocyanate (MDI) which was chain extended with 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) propionic acid (DMPA).

The DMPA-extended materials were neutralizd by using uranyl acetate to produce uranyl polyurethane carboxylate (UPUC) materials.

The morphology and properties of UPUC materials were studied by a variety of techniques.

The ionized materials exhibited phase separation and ionic aggregation within the hard domains.

Hard domain cohesion was found to be a more important factor than hard domain fraction in determining the tensile, adhesion, and viscoelastic properties of these materials.
