Spectrophotometric and potentiometric studies of some oximes and azo oximes derived from some quinofines and picolines were carried out.

The dissociation constants of the organic compounds and the stability constants of the metal complexes were calculated.

The mode of ionization of the organic compounds were explained.

A linear free energy relationship between the pKL and Log IQ values was deduced and explained.

The phenomena of solvation and aquation were discussed.

A trial was made to calculate the number of water and solvent molecules for the ligands upon dissociation.

The ligand species are more solvated than aquated in the studied mixtures.
